It's summer time in the Philippines and I know some of you are scrambling to your feet for that ultimate backpacking adventure. If you're headed to what the Economist Intelligence Unit (EIC) declared as the most expensive city to live in 2013, Singapore, and you're thinking of ways to cut down the transportation budget without compromising your excursions, then you should totally get the Singapore Tourist Pass.
Perfectly Candid :D |
You can ride the bus or the train for as many times as you want for 1,2 or 3 days. You'll never have to worry about getting lost or wanting to go to the last stop with this baby around. It served us well last year when we decided to stray as far as Jurong or when we accidentally rode the wrong train on our way to Dhoby Ghaut. When traveling, there can be a lot of unseen circumstances (people getting left behind after a platoon of the healthy middle class stampedes their way into the train and whatnot) and having this card definitely eases your mind.
- 1 Day Pass - $10
- 2 Day Pass - $16
- 3 Day Pass - $20
Thank you Singapore for giving us backpackers the opportunity to spend less in your insanely expensive country! Now is probably the time to mention there's an additional $10 rental deposit which will be refunded to the tourist when the card is returned. If you want a souvenir, you can always keep the card!
Of course, a photo on a train (not transit, we were on our way to Sentosa but I couldn't find any other picture lol) |
So anyway, for this post, I checked out STP's always updated website (Singaporeans and their websites!) and found out that they're releasing a Singapore Tourist Pass Plus from March 3, 2014 onwards. This card no longer has a rental deposit fee and includes a BubbleJet Ride and a Funvee Bus Tour. Here are the rates:
- 1 Day Pass - $20
- 2 Day Pass - $26
- 3 Day Pass - $30
